2007-04-26Fix handle leak in write_treeAlex Riesen
This is a quick and dirty fix for the broken "git cherry-pick -n" on some broken OS, which does not remove the directory entry after unlink succeeded(!) if the file is still open somewher. The entry is left but "protected": no open, no unlink, no stat. Very annoying. Signed-off-by: Alex Riesen <raa.lkml@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2007-02-21Mechanical conversion to use prefixcmp()Junio C Hamano
This mechanically converts strncmp() to use prefixcmp(), but only when the parameters match specific patterns, so that they can be verified easily. Leftover from this will be fixed in a separate step, including idiotic conversions like if (!strncmp("foo", arg, 3)) => if (!(-prefixcmp(arg, "foo"))) This was done by using this script in px.perl #!/usr/bin/perl -i.bak -p if (/strncmp\(([^,]+), "([^\\"]*)", (\d+)\)/ && (length($2) == $3)) { s|strncmp\(([^,]+), "([^\\"]*)", (\d+)\)|prefixcmp($1, "$2")|; } if (/strncmp\("([^\\"]*)", ([^,]+), (\d+)\)/ && (length($1) == $3)) { s|strncmp\("([^\\"]*)", ([^,]+), (\d+)\)|(-prefixcmp($2, "$1"))|; } and running: $ git grep -l strncmp -- '*.c' | xargs perl px.perl Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2006-08-23Convert memcpy(a,b,20) to hashcpy(a,b).Shawn Pearce
This abstracts away the size of the hash values when copying them from memory location to memory location, much as the introduction of hashcmp abstracted away hash value comparsion. A few call sites were using char* rather than unsigned char* so I added the cast rather than open hashcpy to be void*. This is a reasonable tradeoff as most call sites already use unsigned char* and the existing hashcmp is also declared to be unsigned char*. [jc: Splitted the patch to "master" part, to be followed by a patch for merge-recursive.c which is not in "master" yet. Fixed the cast in the latter hunk to combine-diff.c which was wrong in the original. Also converted ones left-over in combine-diff.c, diff-lib.c and upload-pack.c ] Signed-off-by: Shawn O. 2006-08-13Better error message when we are unable to lock the index fileJunio C Hamano
Most of the callers except the one in refs.c use the function to update the index file. Among the index writers, everybody except write-tree dies if they cannot open it for writing. This gives the function an extra argument, to tell it to die when it cannot create a new file as the lockfile. The only caller that does not have to die is write-tree, because updating the index for the cache-tree part is optional and not being able to do so does not affect the correctness. I think we do not have to be so careful and make the failure into die() the same way as other callers, but that would be a different patch. Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2006-08-04Replace some calls to die(usage_str) with usage(usage_str).Ramsay Allan Jones
The only change in behaviour should be having a "usage: " prefix on the output string rather than "fatal: ", and an exit code of 129 rather than 128. Signed-off-by: Ramsay Allan Jones <ramsay@ramsay1.demon.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
2006-07-29Call setup_git_directory() much earlierLinus Torvalds
This changes the calling convention of built-in commands and passes the "prefix" (i.e. pathname of $PWD relative to the project root level) down to them. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
