2020-01-12Revert "Merge branch 'ra/rebase-i-more-options'"Junio C Hamano
This reverts commit 5d9324e0f4210bb7d52bcb79efe3935703083f72, reversing changes made to c58ae96fc4bb11916b62a96940bb70bb85ea5992. The topic turns out to be too buggy for real use. cf. <f2fe7437-8a48-3315-4d3f-8d51fe4bb8f1@gmail.com>

2019-12-16fix-typo: consecutive-word duplicationsryenus
Correct unintentional duplication(s) of words, such as "the the", and "can can" etc. The changes are only applied to cases where it's fixing what is clearly wrong or prone to misunderstanding, as suggested by the reviewers. 2019-12-04RelNotes: replace Gmane with real Message-IDsDenton Liu
The only references to Gmane that remain are in RelNotes. Although these are definitely not in active use, they might be of historical interest for future readers so let's ensure that mail references are more robust. Replace links to Gmane with links to lore.kernel.org (which is our new preferred mailing list archive and has the Message-ID in the URL) and bare Gmane ID references with Message-IDs. The Message-IDs were found by searching for "gmane:<id>" on https://public-inbox.org/git/ and taking the resulting message. 2019-11-02RelNotes/2.24.0: fix self-contradictory noteElijah Newren
As per Wikipedia, "In current technical usage, for one to state that a feature is deprecated is merely a recommendation against using it." It is thus contradictory to claim that something is not "officially deprecated" and then to immediately state that we are both discouraging its use and pointing people elsewhere. 2019-09-30Merge branch 'ds/include-exclude'Junio C Hamano
The internal code originally invented for ".gitignore" processing got reshuffled and renamed to make it less tied to "excluding" and stress more that it is about "matching", as it has been reused for things like sparse checkout specification that want to check if a path is "included". * ds/include-exclude: unpack-trees: rename 'is_excluded_from_list()' treewide: rename 'exclude' methods to 'pattern' treewide: rename 'EXCL_FLAG_' to 'PATTERN_FLAG_' treewide: rename 'struct exclude_list' to 'struct pattern_list' treewide: rename 'struct exclude' to 'struct path_pattern'
